Any body that has used the Community Care Program once called VA Choice knows there is long wait for authorizations to get approved and sent to now Tri-West the contract administrator to connect Veterans to a private Healthcare Provider. I've been through this process enough times to see specialists to educate myself on the process and the crux of the problem is the Community Care Department in Fayetville NC (The Parent Facility).

If you are a Veteran that has experienced this you are not alone.

If you know some one that is a Veteran and uses VA Healthcare please direct them to this sincere post.

I would like to organize an online group where we could speak as a unified voice and maybe connect with other groups to get change to happen in these processes directed by the Community Care Department.

I myself have been victim of their incompetance in completely messing up my paperwork for the last 3 authorizations adding much time to my wait as well as going to the VA to speak with Administrators and Medical Directors each time. It is a mind numbing process where you literally have to micromanage them in every step all the way to the provider and all the rubber stamping processes checking and double checking that every t is crossed and i is dotted. Calm Assertiveness I try at first but usually aggressive assertiveness is what it takes to get action. I am only touching the tip of the iceberg here.

For anybody out there that is reading this I just want to say we Veterans for the most part don't want preferential treatment only equal treatment in getting timely care and not treated like a second class citizen. I work in healthcare and I have seen this time and time again in actions but in words they say thank you for your service.

I've exhausted all avenues for change with specific facts and literally nothing is done (Advocates, WhiteHouse Hotline, Office of Inspector General for the VA hotline, Filing grievances with Tri-West, My Local Congressmans office numerous times and for the most part I have been received with apathy and pathetic responses if any.

Regardless what Branch you were in, when you served, peace time, wartime or any differences we may have we all are Veterans that use the VA Healthcare system. What affects any Veteran there affects all of us.

So we all must unite as one voice on key matters. For the most part in my experience the Wilmington NC VA has been fine in all areas. I can email my Doctor any time and get responses quickly but anything that has to go through Fayetville NC VA is when problems occur and for me that is Office of Community Care. These people lie, are rude and after 3 authorizations have been screwed up royally I believe they are being done intentionally. They act as if they have no oversight and no worry of repercussions. They tell you it could be up to 30-40 days to process your claim which is ironic and contradictory when you could only use Community Care once called VA Choice if you had to wait more than 30 days for care within the VA.

There are a few good people that work at the VA so I am not out to rant against the VA as a whole but to work on this problem and future problems productively. I believe if we do this online and harness the power of the internet we can get enough support to force realistic change for each and everyone of us brothers and sisters. We are a diverse group that worked together for a common goal so I know we can do this.

Please contact me and we can start a productive conversation and use one of the many free online forums to communicate such as Delphi Forums that is free and has a lot of options plus you can maintain your anonymity.

Thank you for your time.
