I will furnish provenance along with the bronze upon sale, but I can tell you that the bronze came from an estate connected to Colt Industries. The documentation for this bronze includes an original marketing brochure, as well as an all-important letter from R.W. Lackie, VP of Sales for Colt's Military Arms Division of Colt Industries to R.L. Wilson of A.A. White Engravers, Inc.
Please note that these two items were professionally matted and framed at Andre Custom Framing in Hartford Connecticut, and a company stamp was added to the back that reads: Property of A.A. White Engravers Manchester Conn 06040. The stamp demonstrates that these documents were owned, along with Rampant Colt 28/50, by someone at A.A. White Engravers, Inc.
We know that Robert Larry (R.L.) Wilson was the Vice President and Managing Director of A.A. White Engravers, a trademark holder for Colt Industries, and an authority on all things Colt. I believe this bronze, 28/50, belonged to R.L. Wilson at one, original/early point in time.
I might add that 26/50 recently sold for $17,625 at auction in Illinois.
I ask that you consult the photos to recognize the authenticity of this Rampant Colt bronze sculpture. Thank you.
