Offering for sale this incredible 29x41" fine weave rug featuring Navajo-centric figural motif (which is referred to as *Yei pattern). Hand woven in New Mexico by an unknown weaver (thus the attribution Navajo-style as compared to simply a Navajo rug) circa 1990s using 100% wool pile. Has been hung on a custom-made wall mount board all this time and remains in outstanding condition, with no significant or noteworthy imperfections.
*Yei is the Navajo name for a deity or holy one. Yei spirits are believed to have healing powers and control the earthly elements: rain, snow, and sun. Many traditional Navajo consider weaving images of Yeis on rugs taboo, which is why the vast majority of these Yei rugs are not attributable to Navajo weavers. That said, I do have reason to believe that this might in fact be a Navajo rug. If it was to be authenticated as a Navajo rug, it would almost certainly be worth $2500. Regardless, it's clearly made by an expert weaver.
