Best Dog Ever. Thanks (Shallotte, NC)
On March 11th 2010, I met you in the parking lot of the Walmart in Shallote, NC. You had 6 little black puppies in back of your red pick-up truck when you pulled up beside my SUV. Each pup was covered in fleas and they squirmed around the cardboard box helplessly trying to get comfortable. One puppy stood out to me and we just clicked, like that first date where you have those butterflies in your stomach.
Well, I took that dog home with me that sunny Saturday morning for $50 cash. You said, "50 bucks will due, I just want them gone." We shook hands and got back in our vehicles like it was just another day. I will tell you now, that it wasn't just a normal day for me. He has a handful raising him while in college and working for the radio station and newspaper. There were times that I didn't think I was cut out to be a dog owner, but like my grandmother says, "life is full of unexpected challenges, but how you choose to deal with those challenges that will define you".
If you ever come across this posting, I want you to know that I named that little black dog Wingnut, and he isn't a little dog anymore. He has grown to be a fine dog and I am so proud of him. I take him everywhere with me.
You probably won't get the chance to read this, but if the stars align and you do find yourself reading this, I want you to know that that little black dog that I bought from you for $50 that sunny Saturday morning has been my best friend for the past 4 years of my life and I am so grateful for each day.
PS. He loves going on the boat and chewing on a rawhide bone at the end of the day.
