Little River Blues jam and revue cranking up Oct 21, come on down and play the blues with us!

We need a few good, seasoned players and or acts to help me make this successful.
Blues fans too, no cover!

Players can include guitar, bass, harp, keyboards, sax, drums lead vocalist, front man/woman, whatever you do to spread the blues.

We will also be featuring individual performers so if you want to be featured then by all means get in touch so we can make it happen.

We would like to have a few rehearsals starting next week in our rehearsal facility to get some core players together for the jam.

yes, that song called So Close was written by a local man and the lyrics were too and I just sang it as I was directed to do so, proving that a metal chick can have DIVERSITY... now, ain't that what it is all about.

Take care all you musicians who have bands to play in! Me and my guitarist mate do just fine without having any gigs, hell we have plenty of other things to make music for. We make it because it is fun and we have over 80 songs copyrighted out there in many genres. We don't need to sell them or push them as they are just our creations to reflect on.

Keeping the music alive is all we need to do! If we don't use what we have it may just disappear.

Regarding this post: "I cannot say that original posting is wrong as my friends and I have been in bands and we have heard what this poster is talking about. However, there are a few chicks out there that rock, they are just not in local bands. The 910 band didn't do much for their point as there was no female vocals in the songs and the first 2 pages were either not working or just silent.
Try myspace for music. It has a lot more of the diversity that you are seeking and has a few chicks that DO KNOW how to rock. Plus you will find great bands in other countries that would NEVER get any type of airtime in the US.
Just because the shows here are boy oriented means that good musicians are looking elsewhere. They are mostly doing it online and in studio to get their sounds out.
Let the boys have it, soon they will be the only ones there. Isn't that what they really want anyhow?
I know quite a few kickass bands that are on myspace, but don't want to play at shitholes like Chuckie D's and downtown. They are probably not in the genre that this town is wanting to keep. The "old south" style.
Remember, we can sing gospel in the streets but not Slayer, so look at the surroundings and know WHY there are no powerful women in bands Locally.

My only response is,telling people to go online and look elsewhere does not help people deal with the issues directly affecting the Wilmington music scene.

And about the links,I was pretty sure they all work,but if anyone else has a problem,please let me know. Anyway,some of the material has vocals,some do not. Murder In My Sleep are in the writing stages of new material,only a couple of older songs on the Myspace page have vocals. Politics of Confession all have vocals,and 910 Noise is NOISE,take it for what it is.
And besides,my point was to show that there are groups,bands,acts,etc here that people don't even know or care about because they don't run with the pack. So while people say there aren't enough of this or that,there ARE. It just doesn't fall in your lap.
Take a chance and go see some acts on a flyer you have never heard of. Support the local bands that play. Instead of just telling them what they are doing wrong. This is not to say go see everyone all the time,no one does that,and no one should be expected to. We all have our tastes. But I can't count how many times I ended up hearing bands from here that I never bothered seeing,only to end up loving them in the end. Not all the time,but it does happen. And it feels great to be there for our local acts.

So I'm looking to form / join a band that is into playing out on a regular basis. I'd like our bad to travel for gigs outside of Wilmingotn,
as well as hit the hot spots here in town.

I've had the fortune to play at just about every venue in town, usually just sitting in for a few songs with whatever band is actually performing (thanks everybody!), but I've been thinking lately that it might be neat to actually get paid to play.

I am currently in a band, but I definitely have the time to commit to another project as well. I play fretted, fretless, and also acoustic bass guitar, So whether we play as a full band, or put on an acoustic show, I'll be happy either way - I just want to perform and get a 'lil scratch in the process.

In a perfect world, I'd never play a cover song unless I wanted to,
but lets face you have to play some covers in order to get paid in this town.
True enough, but guess what...it' IS a perfect world!
That's because I come from the school of thought that states,
"If you want to hear the #1 top 40 hit played note for note the way the original band recorded it -
turn on a radio".
We are MUSICIANS which is a type of ARTIST, so I say pick songs that Weren't #1 hits,
that Weren't played in stress rotation. - And use your musicianship toINTERPERATE the song -
infuse it with the unique sound (hopefully there is one) that the band has - that you have.
That way we give people something truly unique to listen to for a change!
Familiar, but in a different way...
Songs people forgot they liked...

I was hoping to put together something fun and entertaining, just all the great songs that made the 80's fun. Looking for multiple artist, lead guitar, keyboards, drums, bass. I play guitar, however can play bass for this project. Just looking to have some fun and bring back some of the best times in music. I recently had the opportunity to watch a band out of Atlanta GA called the Breakfast Club. They are an 80's cover band who has had great sucess. lol,well,I know most people don't have the,um,well,balls,to put their name out there,but hell,I don't give a rats ass. I don't sing that high pitched,never have.
My rock band is currently looking for a drummer and I post ads here,so I read these posts and I just cringe. There are plenty of females that rock out here,but most don't get paid attention to because this is a college town and people are fickle and superficial. T and A sells,or trends,not talent.
But once in awhile women break through the barriers(in several genres),and that is wonderful.

Anyway,why are people so hung up on bashing,cutting up,and negativity?
Seems to me if people used one-tenth of the energy they use criticizing and did something productive with it this town could have the music scene it used to have. Till then everyone needs to stop whining and just make music,or REALLY support it.
Just make the music people,your local scene is more than you think if you look a bit deeper...

I just moved back to Wilmington a few weeks ago and i'm looking to meet some people to jam with. I've been playing acoustic for about 8 years. I don't really have much experience playing in bars and venues just small parties with friends. I've got some good ideas, creative personality and I've written a good few songs and jams in my day. I am not sure which ad's you are responding to, but I have responded to several "singer wanted" ads and most have responded back. Some have worked out some have not. Are you sending them a sample of your singing. I generally send a recording of myself on the first or second email. If you send people a recording or tell them where they can hear one online, and you are good, people will respond. If you are like "well i don't pay any instrument, and i don't have any recording of myself singing with a band", then people may not respond. I think if you are a singer, you have to at least play a little guitar or piano or something. To me it is hard to work with someone who is just a singer unless they are very good and experienced with singing with a live band. Just my 2 cents. Good luck to you.

We are NOT looking for a hired gun. We have about 5 songs or so currently that you would need to learn AS IS. The drums for the existing songs are done,so you would have to learn them as they are,but future material we ABSOLUTELY want you to write WITH us. I'm looking to either start a band or join a group. I enjoy all styles. I started out learning Zeppelin and Skynyrd tunes about 8 years ago. That type of bluesy, soul rock is what I still love the most. I jumped into the 80s a few years ago....from there I went to country. Somewhere during the whole thing, I got stuck on the allman brothers band. Grew my hair out, joined a band or two in college and started playing some slide licks ala Duane Allman's Filmore East performance. Sometime after that, I rediscovered the great Oldies/Motown and Beach music(R&B at its finest...none of that crap they call R&B today) Graduated college...cut the hair....moved to Wilmington....Looking for bandmates with some of the same musical tastes as I have. I'm a bassist that also plays a little bit of rhythm guitar. what i'm really looking for is something i can actually play over and open my instrument up instead of merely following along with a riff.

i've done metalcore and punk in the past, but what i've found that what i enjoy the most is playing for one of my friends that played guitar and keyboard. she had a solo project and when she put her cd out i played for her cd release show and then drove up to play a show in baltimore followed by one in pennsylvania back in april.

i don't really take influences from other players...i just play my instrument. but bands that i enjoy listening to range from THE CURE, to JACOB GOLDEN, to MICHALE GRAVES, to DEPECHE MODE, to AFI, to LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT and so many more. mellow, low tempo stuff with an atmosphere is what i've been listening to as of late, but what i'm hoping to do is have someone strike a chord and go from there and just let the music happen.

never let this town try and dictate what you do. Wilmington is in no position to try and tell people what is good music. The handful of really good musicians here don't get the recognition they deserve,and the the bands and acts that book all the time are "bar bands". good for background drunk noise. The only way to really be happy making music and be from this town is to play outside of this town,that way you can feel appreciated by something other than the drunk college crowds or elitists.
No matter what you do,do it with some conviction and people will respond positively. Female rockers in this town have had to deal with the madonna or the whore complex forever,just like anywhere else. they either have to be all demure and innocent,or loud and obnoxious with their underwear hanging out for anyone to take notice. if you don't pick a side people don't know what to do with you,and heaven forbid you dare to mix genres!
just make the damn music and don't worry about it.

I am a regional musician who recently finished an EP through a few studios all around NC. After having spent hard earned money and irreplaceable time on my project, I've come to the realization that these days, unless you're on a record label's budget, you can do things yourself.

I am looking for an artist or band who have written a few songs and have the intention of recording in the near future. I would like to extend a helping hand in your project and let you leave my place with a finished and very good sounding demo project. I'm not here to compete with any of the area studios, I'd just like to help out some other musicians in my shoes and have some fun in the process.

Im open to all genres but would like to focus more on solo artists (including hip-hop), and small groups who play music more along the lines of pop, pop-rock, jazz, etc. (lighter music if you will). I've got all the gear we'll need to do the job including, mics, amps, drums, software, etc. and just want to have some fun.

AND they put in a fuse that was about 6x too big.
