1986 Yamaha Vmax - 1200ccs of Lunacy! - $4000 (Ogden)
Fastest stock quarter-mile bike when it was built. Capable of a 10.89s 1/4 mile run.
The snorting 1200cc V4 rumbls away like a small block Chevy, pawing at the ground, waiting to curl up the pavement. Then the tach sweeps past 6000 RPM and the V-boost kicks in cramming double the fuel and air into each cylinder. The engine roars. The bull is bucking beneath you. Your arms strecth. You streak towards the horizon and your eyeballs are stuffed into the back of your skull.
This machine is not for the faint of heart! But for those brave enough saddle up, wrap their fists around the drag bars, twist the grip and hold on tight, you will be rewarded with countless goofy ear-to-ear grins and behind the helmet laughter as you hurl yourself down the road.
This is V-Max!
The original muscle bike.
A cruiser that refuses to cruise into retirement.
A 28 year old machine still cabable of stop light to stop light humiliation of that kid GSX-r.
This is an emotional moment for me. I have resisted selling this bike for 5 years. I have had this bike since 1997 (since I was first dating my wife)and swore I would never sell it, but it is time for me to face reality. I have two young children and an auto restoration project in the works. I simply have not had and will not have the time to ride, and let's face it, these machines are made to be ridden not locked away in a garage hidden from the world.
Mr. Max is hungry. It's been too long since he devoured the pavement.
Included with the bike are all the components to do the front end upgrade (Race tech springs, gold valve emulators, fork seals, bushings and wipers) I never found the time to do. And a new seat cover.
The bike has two beautiful and barely used Avon Venom tires, and a brand new battery.
It could stand to have the carbs cleaned, the fuel was stabilized, but its been a few years.
